mechanics of pots: fun fact... NOT BALANCE
hey fun fact that most of you probably don't know regarding pot regen:
it gives exactly 400 mana / second, so if your screen updates at 30 fps (lul at my nub comp), and the human eye processes
between 15 and 20 frames/second on average...
you are getting mana at something like intervals of 100
(obviously its continuous, not 100 200 300 400, but the point of the stuff above was that you can only see this much).
so, next time you want to time a pot, just remember if you want to cast dts and you are empty on mana, count 2/3 of a real second (1 game second)
hope this helps!
* PLEASE DON'T COMMENT ON BALANCE OF POT COST OR REGEN U NUBZ. this is solely a fun fact.

.
The human eye can perceive framerates of over 60 fps.
Also, "Faster" game time is approx 1.38x real time (.725 s game time vs 1 second real time)

i quote wikipedia:
"The human eye and its brain interface, the human visual system, can process 10 to 12 separate images per second, perceiving them individually"
i am assuming you get the point...

Ok, cap your framerate to 12 fps and see how that goes.
The human eye does not process "frames". It captures continuously, but 60fps is around the point where msot people can't distinguish between higher framerates (though there is definitely a difference between 120fps and 60 fps, the difference in smoothness is much smaller).
According to: http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasci/gen01/gen01025.htm
"When an image strikes the retina the nerve impulses last approximately 1/25 sec."
The images that your monitor produces will "overlap", giving the impression of smooth motion.
P.S. try this link http://frames-per-second.appspot.com/ and set the motion blur to none. Change the fps of one asset to 10 fps.

Re: mechanics of pots: fun fact... NOT BALANCE
ok you are obviously missing the point:
the point was, you probably can't read more than 10-15 numbers per second (you can tell if there is more or not obviously, but you can't read more. and even that is a lot of numbers), so the mana bar goes up in really big chunks.
this was supposed to be a tip for early-game pot regen, not an ophthalmology discussion...

The human eye can see 24 pictures/sec
and pot regen in early just wtf unkillable even if it is an huge invest

Re: mechanics of pots: fun fact... NOT BALANCE
but thats my point!!
you don't need to worry about lag/not being able to watch mana bar well enough...
you can work on timing by counting instead ! count 1-missippi (as fast as you can) then hit dts (or any 400 mana spell)...
also, fun fact, if you have 350 max mana, and you hit pot then wait a little bit, you can finalblow + czx simultaneously and have them all cast just like if you had 900 mana
